This is a sad story. My son has been in the Marine Corp for about one year. Are we worried, Yes! He was brought up to believe in his God, his country, his leaders and his citizens. He is grateful for what those who have gone before him in the Armed Forces have done for him and those living in this country today. He was recently home and was given recruiters assistance for about 10 days. He went to malls infested by gangs, he went to malls visited by the upper class. Both places he apprtoached kids his age and asked if they had thought about joining the Marines? There were several answers
1 I don't want to die in war.
2 I don't want anybody to tell me what to do.

He mentioned the educational benefits again several answers.

1 I don't want to go to college or any school.
2 My parents pay for my school and all I need.

Its a shame in his mind. They would rather die for a gang or some turf then their country. What rules and laws are they going to follow if NOBODY tells them what to do. Its a shame they will never know that the Marines tell you what to do but they expect you to use your knowlege to do it the best way possible.

They would rather say uneducated then go to school. They would rather live off mom and dad then make their own way in this world when do they grow up?

To the I don't want to die neither does my son but his belief in God, his fellow Marines, his training and his ability to deal with that fear sustain him.

He is a Man but he is more he is a Marine willing to take the place of those who won't or can't. I thank God he has blessed me with such a son.

Thank you for your prayers and know he prays for you too.

Tild~ » Marine Corps calling...

But, the chances of him or his brother wanting to enlist are roughly equivalent to the chances of Dick Cheney winning the Nobel Peace Prize, so I’m not too worried....

Yep. Except for the Bush twins, of course.

Which is probably all for the best, especially if they're even half as incompetent as their dad.
