Yes, calling a special session today to address disaster relief for events that happened weeks ago, in August, is what some are calling “fast acting!” Oh, sorry, make that FAST ACTING!
Hmmm. While we’re making changes, better make that “Pawl- AX“.
Yes, there’s a special session of the Minnesota Legislature happening today. What’s it all about, you who’ve been living under rocks on Jupiter for the past six weeks may ask?
Well, it’s not about how we’re going to pay for replacing the collapsed I35-W bridge. And it’s not about how we’re going to pay for other bridge and other infrastructure repair and maintenance, or about transportation funding. It’s also not about property tax relief.
No, Gov. Tim Pawlenty has finally gotten around to deciding that maybe the Minnesota Legislature should get together in a special session to perhaps consider flood relief for communities in at least three counties of southern Minnesota.
Wondering how that’s working out? Then head over to I Don’t Hate America!, where DJ Danielson is liveblogging the special session today.

I get it: it’s like ex-lax, except that it’s self-replenishing.
Well, when somebody says “FAST ACTING!” I think of either laxatives or Drano, and ex-lax won the toss. Still, you’re right about that self-replenishing feature.
Chuckles!
Pawlenty only protects the privileged, especially the privileged rich. Pawlenty is more loyal to Grover Norquist, who he communicated with, than the people of Minnesota. This is the Grover Norquist who wants to “drown government in a bathtub”. Well Grover Norquist succeeded with New Orleans and now he is working on Minnesota. Pawlenty is just follows the Republican party orders, never mind what us Minnesotans want.
Instead of having a insurance commissioner that made sure that what insurance companies advertise is what insurance companies deliver, we have insurance that does not insure, with delivery of probably toxic FEMA trailers and some weak late relief. Because Republican priorities is in helping corporate business not small business and not people!
Instead of planning ahead, knowing that global warming will cause more weather disasters and planning for probable scenarios, we have disclaimers of who could have known and who could have predicted, just like Hurricane Katrinia.
Instead of maintaining our transportation, we spent tax dollars on stadiums. Because Republican priorities are entertainment, not good government.
Yet Pawlenty smiles, and people forget. Pawlenty gives the pretty speech with pretty promises and the pretty looks, an people forget that he does not keep his promises to fix transportation and “to do whatever it takes”.
I think our executive is so full of **** that we need laxative.
