Put down your ice augers and jumper cables, Minnesotans!
Time to make our voices heard loud and clear by Governor Timmy where our state budget is concerned.
Join the Hotdish Revolution and spread the word about Minnesota’s Recipe For Success.
And yes, that is indeed a tater tot hotdish our lead poster girl is carrying; thanks for asking!

Tater Tot Hotdish, the only thing my mom made that I couldn’t eat. That is saying alot since I was the only one of my brothers that ate liver and onions.
Texas has its chili contest, hows bout a tator tot hotdish cook off? I hate the stuff, so I should be a judge. Edible and you win!
Oh Dave you poor kid. My mom never made tater tot hotdish. Never. So I actually didn’t have it until I was well into my 20s. I’m right with ya in hating the stuff. Yeah, let’s have a tater tot hotdish cook off. The winner will be whoever makes it impossible to detect the presence of tater tots, how about that?
Would you both be happy with Shepherd’s Pie, the pre-industrial version?
Actually, no! I don’t like Shepherd’s Pie either. Pre- or post- industrial versions.

How about a green bean hotdish instead? See if you can improve on the traditional Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup and fried Durkee onions.
Personally, I would go with green bean hotdish over tater tot hotdish any day.
And no, the mushroom soup/Durkees fried onions recipe could NEVER be improved upon. It is perfect!
The only other one I would consider would be tuna hotdish: tuna and noodles and tiny early very young peas and cream of celery soup, with a topping of crushed saltine crackers dotted with butter; bake 30 minutes in a 350F oven. Uffda, it’s to die for!
[...] Lucia’s chicken salad brought some “what if’s” to mind. Like, what if I switched out the chicken for tuna? And, what if I tried to nearly copy her spices and ingredients? I say nearly, because I am so certain that a James Beard winning restaurant has some secrets that aren’t revealed. Also, what if I topped it with potato chips so hot, they were named after Death Valley? So, here is my recipe inspired by Lucia’s and as imagined and concocted in my kitchen. This is not your childhood favorite, but might be worth trying at least once! [...]
