Acknowledging how impeccable your kindly old Auntie Tild’s timing is, and how sad I feel about missing the cut, as it were, in Tengrain’s contest, here are my humble offerings:

Perhaps one could theorize that — at least for Laura — Crawford wasn’t just a place but a state of mind?

Tbogg had my favorite title, though, “I Killed a Man in Midland Just So You Would Buy This Book.”
Mein Chimpf! I’m gonna have to steal that (with credit of course) -

Tengrain
Steal away! Uh… well you know what I mean. With my compliments.
I swear, someday I’m gonna enter one of your contests (or Bluegal’s) while the contest is actually still running. The shock will probably kill me, but I’ll go out smiling. Excelsior!
I know what YOU mean, too — I’m usually a few cards short of a deck when participating in contests, reading the nooze, or (as in this case) responding to a thread. Woe is me!
But I also get what makes for good snark – it’s the concept. And Mein Chimpf -complete with 3rd Reich font – is classic. Excellent!!!
Oh thank you thank you thank you, notKeith!
And I’m so glad someone recognized it as a Germanic/3rd Reich-style font. Of course I modeled my title “banner’ after this one:

There are loads of similar fonts out there, but I couldn’t find a really exact match for the one used on Herr Schickelgruber’s dustjacket. (Well, not among the free fonts anyway.) So I finally settled on Deutsch Gothic (free from dafont) and hoped it would look 3rd Reich-y enough.
Loved how you twilight-ized Pickles! Brilliant.
